I learn the hard way that Ermion can lose you card advantage. I used him as my second to last card he draw my last card in the deck and force me to discard the other 2 cards that I had in hand.

I assumed that if you can draw only a card from him you have to discard only 1 card...WRONG!

That sounds like there was an issue between a chair and a keyboard. Why would you assume something like that? :D

That would probably make them too weak. Although the deck's power is a combined effect of control tools and djenge/houndsnount as well so it could still work but it might destroy the deck completely. GS win rate is too high compared to everything else which indicates it's a problem. I dislike how it destroys deck building if you don't want to auto lose to it.

Removing possibility to revive 20 points silver would be not "too weak", but more balanced. GS are engines and all engines have low power, since they are generating it over time. Additionally you can buff them with different units.

What are the control tools in the greatsword deck? :D Coral and Hym? I would not call two golds as control tools which are essential part of the deck.

This. How do people not see whenever there is a problematic combo with mandrake that the culprit is that card itself. Every card has a base strength that is balanced around its effect, and it should not change. And since when is strengthening a key part of gwent? I do not think that the original gwent had it, at best something that was contained within Skellige and strengthened only specific cards.

Well, I am not trying to say that it is key part since beginning. But it is in the current game. Majority of carryover value is based on strengthening. Also several decks are build just around stregthening. To fully understand the game you have to differ between strengthen and boost, which are markantly different and both have different limitations. I am not sure if removing stregthening would be good move. Obviously it would destroy several decks, but I do not like it almost as much as random effects...

I, personally, do not have any issues with GS. But what do you think about removing whole strenghten keyword and only boost will increase the power of the cards? I can imagine it, but unfortunately the whole game would lose one of the key elements... and I do not like that idea, since gwent do not have many unique elements to spare (imo)

But what it is in comparison to losing whole row...

Shupe charm plays for less than hunter to replay barclay almost always. Shupe charm is a desperation play.

How do I replay barclay in my monster deck?

    Quote from Olafthemighty >>

We all know ST Shupe is uber powerful at the moment but is the title thread the primary cause? Seems pretty easy for ST Shupe to get card advantage or the ability to act last in round 3 which pretty much means that the opponent's big body proactive play is ripe for the picking. I'm fine with Shupe being a 25 point card on average, but the charm average has to be around 40 in this circumstance. My question is this too OP? Should charm be nerfed? Thoughts?

I also think that shupe charm is too overpowered. Just considering that you can get any enemy card on your side of board is mad idea.

Honestly, this is the only effect in whole gwent which is completely non-sense considering whole game image. All you need is 10 power muzzle or maybe only 9.

I do not think that this shupe choice overpowered or whatever, since it is chosen only in the minority of options. It just does not make any sense...

To be more interactive, I would suggest some alternative. For example: make copy of other card of your choice.

I do not think that arena is good practice for noobs who do not know half of the cards and potential interactions between them. However, buying welcome bundle could be good investment. Otherwise, can you show us your whole collection?

Right, can't they just keep this beta version alongside Homecoming??

Because all these non-confirmed rumors I've been hearing/reading make me afraid I'll be wanting to play Gwent in the Witcher III game once Homecoming releases rather than join the "new game" which won't be Gwent anymore lol...

Gwent will transform from glorified solitaire to glorified hearthstone with witcher theme. This is good, isn't it?

P.S. yes, I play only NG handbuff and nekkers

Just play whatever you want and do not care about rank. I do not see a point in being frustrated by climbing ladder. Lower ranks are more fun anyway.

And if you are trying to be competitive, probably you need to work on your deckbuilding skill, since your homebrew decks cannot pass certain rank...

    Quote from bobesft >>

If you want to compare Dandelion: Poet to someone its more accurate comparison with John Natatalis than Dijkstra.

Well, I find tutor mechanic somehow different from random draw. But it is true that pointwise and final effect is quite similar.

    Quote from Mctravis >>

They are totally different cards in my opinion. DJ pulls two cards instead of one and they have a difference in points of 10 pts. With few cards in a typical NR deck being worth less than ten points, on a pure points basis, DJ looks stronger BUT that's not the biggest difference.

DJ is the OG of RNG in Gwent and largely hated/loved as such. Before Shupe, Create or even the short lived spawn we had DJ as RNG for the win. and that is the big difference. Poet lets you draw a card and then pick which card to play while DJ just plays your top two cards, in order with no option even to discard. So while DJ has a much higher raw points potential, Poet lets you pick when to play the cards and gives you control.

In some decks like a swarm foltest this may not be a big deal as there are fewer card sequencing issues besides wanting to play your tallest units as late as possible (but by the time you are DJ'ing for them you will be glad to see a tall unit even with the larger scorch risk).

The bigger issue with DJ is for decks like scorch control Henselt where it is not uncommon to see a DJ pull a light cavalry or even a self scourch. I can't tell you how many times I have seen DJ pull schorch to burn his own Villentretenmerth before I laid down my tall units, it brightens my day everytime.

TL/DR: If you want more control over sequencing run Poet. If you like 'RNG for the win' and the highest potential upside run DJ.

Exactly, that sequencing is the biggest issue for me. Burning my own units happens more often than I would like to admit. Or with 5 cards in the deck, drawing Tormented mage and Thundebolt in this exact order is just frustrating. Hopefully someone will try to replace these cards in NR deck and give some feedback from actual results before I spend all my scraps from the shiny new golden...
