People always play decks, that work better than the others. That is why we see Skellige dominating the ladder. We used to see Nilfgard all over the place, and Consume Monsters before that... damn there was a time when people were salty about Control Radovid or sick thinning done by Scoia (Mercenary + BMC combo).
Frankly speaking I feel like it's a matter of days/weeks. CDPR will release yet another patch causing a meta shift... it's always like that. Meta decks are countered by decklist that becomes a new meta.
I believe that the thread was created to discuss a specific matchup (NR machines vs. SK axeman), and mechanics like dealing damage that ignores armor.
I would like to remind you that everyone is allowed to share thoughts, tactics, and opinions. Hateful language or harassment will not be tolerated.
// Thread moved to General Discussion
Unfortunately it's a well known bug. There are quite a few threads created about that. I would suggest to post and discuss if further here: http://www.gwentdb.com/forums/gwent-feedback/beta/962-succubus-xbox-bug
I think it's a well known bug.... or rather "a feature that is obvious, but for some reason, has not been implemented yet".
You can't tell which cards are in which GY. I think I saw quite a few threads asking for that particular feature as it makes certain cards useless in mirror matchups. At the time being we can only sit and wait for CDPR to announce next patch.
and by tempo, what I understand is playing big points in single turn to get ahead of your enemy fast. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
I understand the discussion is hot, as there is always someone, who gets hit by a patch. It doesn't change the fact that I would prefer if everyone gets back on a subject of discussing the card.
Alzur's Double–Cross will always pull the strongest unit from your deck - ties are resolved randomly.
There is more than that. Some of the cards have the same mechanics, but were changed due to tags/types being added/removed. So called "medic chains" were huge, back in the closed beta days. Then, the "Permadeath" tag was introduced, which is now replaced by "Doomed" category. Even though both means pretty much the same - you still can find significant differences (doomed card will not go to your GY when removed).
So if i am level 27 and rank 2 do i get 12 kegs?
thats more or less about 25 kegs per advanced player. if you add that the first 10 levels there are a lot of freebies (tutorial kegs, etc) thats about 35 kegs.
not what i expected, but could have been much worse, so cant complain.
I believe the goal was to target "last-round-NOPE" cards which allow you to swing points into your favor with no way of countering them. Although I personally think, that countering Isengrim was not really hard, developers were very clear during their stream - they did not like the mechanism in general (hence Madman Lugos update as well).
We are still in beta, so they may want to check which approach is better. Frightener has not been changed and there must be a reason for that.
I really like Clear Skies change. It will no longer be an answer to Weather decks, but also a very useful tool you should include in your deck. In the same time 4th option for Dagon increases his value (poor Eredin) and with other changes in mind (Geralt: Aard, Drowner) Weather Deck should become more and more popular (is that even possible?). Moving Fog-resistant units to Siege row?! How cool is that?
Tremors... why you do this? I can understand the need of a trade-off not sure that this is what I was looking for.
With changes to Promote and "Promotion" in general Geralt: Igni update may not be the best one. Although changing GIgni status from "must-have" to "nice-to-have" is a change in good direction I think. As for the "Dimeritium Shackle" - we all saw it coming, as "it's gold, can't touch this" mechanism was a little too frustrating. It is good to see that other NR cards got buffed a little. Lore-wise I'm glad to see that Philippa Eilhart change is followed by Radovid adjustment so he can't kill her.
I'm also delightful to see that Scoia received some well deserved love. Isengrim is no longer a last-round-NOPE card... which is good. Can't wait to see how this works out.
I think we may have a new go-to leader in Skellige faction. The amount of str removed now by Harald the Cripple is insane. Draig Bon–Dhu base strength buff may make him a viable card now which widens Skellige deck building options. Clan Dimun Pirate Captain will not be swiped off the board the moment he enters it, which makes me feel good as a Skellige player. Change to Medic mechanism was needed. Not sure whether Sigrdrifa deserved such harsh treatment though. On the bright side she can be considered as replaceable by the Restoration which should free up a silver slot. Last but not least - flame icon on Light Longship?! That's exciting!
New Card Category: Permadeath - Dear CDPR, don't forget about Nenneke please!
I know your pain as I spent loads of scraps to make a WC Monster deck and look what they've done to me! However I'm still more than happy to play Monsters now, as this is what we suppose to do as beta testers.
I've received my key for free, having great time playing before anyone can, they even drop me a free keg - what else could I possibly want? :D
You do realize what Beta means right? :D
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, which may be harsh or just "different" from what others think. Please make sure you do not use hateful/offending language when posting a reply.
Puzzle666 can i replace regis with GIgni ? and sukkub with careteker ?
I use Caretaker instead of succubus to steal Bears from their graveyard. With Renew, you can steal two Bears (or Morgvark). Though SK is still hard to play against, if your hand is not optimal, this replacement increases the chances of winning.
Looks like a very creative/original deck to me, awesome to see the axemen getting some playtime and being effective. Also sorry for being off-topic, but how do you make those interactive card links in your guides? (code blocks?)
Why no crones ?
I've got the full guide copied, it marks it as spam though. I might try to break it up and re-post if Panda is unable to.
*PFI and it stands for Poor FU(well get the idea ;) Infantry- it's a name from the book- Lady of the Lake I think ;)
I am the "luckiest" person on earth cause I managed to draw a hand with no Temerian Foot Soldier and no Reaver Hunter. Mulligan did not help... I start to believe that I must have black listed one of those cards by mistake. I think I do not need to mention that I have lost that game really bad.
Anyways... I played awful amount of games with this deck and some other variations. I must admit that I like the idea and the way it works - if it works at all. Is anyone else having difficult time playing similar decks lately?
Not really. Even though they both occupy 3 silver slots, thin the deck out and provide with a great tempo there are certain differences you have to notice. Crones will spread your str over the board while Withers will spawn in a melee row which is already heavily stacked by your creatures. They therefore make you more vulnerable to any kind of row-removal tools that are very common those days.
So technically speaking - yes you can replace Crones with Withers as they work in a similar way. If you however consider the differences listed above, you will see that those are not the same and they are not a sufficient replacement.
